Computex 2008: Clevo Introduces an Atom-based Tablet PC

Clevo, a second-tier Taiwan-based notebook manufacturer, has several new notebooks on display at Computex. Of mention is a 15.4" AMD Puma-based notebook, which you can read more about over at NotebookReview.com and an Intel Atom-based Tablet PC that we will be discussing here.

TN71M

Below is the Intel Atom-based tablet, the TN71M.

It has the following specifications:

• Intel Atom processor
• Intel US15W chipset
• Integrated graphics
• 7-inch WSVGA (1024x600) display with touch support
• 802.11b/g wireless
• 2.0 megapixel webcam
• Fingerprint reader
• ExpressCard slot

"From my hands-on experience, the TN71M leaves much to be desired in terms of overall build quality. The plastic case was very cheap and flexible, and would bend with the slightest touch. While the specifications are fine for a notebook of that size, without a durable shell it would fall apart in a matter of weeks."

"Overall the notebook has plenty of potential if Clevo fixes the plastic body of the tablet. You know a notebook feels pretty bad when some other budget machines start to feel like ruggedized notebooks in comparison."
