ASUS will likely unveil a notebook with the combined features of an ultrabook, tablet and a swivel screen with the assistance of Intel in June 2012 at Computex Taipei, according to a new report.
The device is expected to launch in September 2012, along with the release of Windows 8, and will be powered by Intel’s upcoming Ivy Bridge. Reportedly, the current ultrabook models are meant to gain consumers’ attention, while the May 2012 launch of Ivy Bridge is when companies expect interest in the device to increase dramatically. The design would ultimately allow the ultrabook to transform into a tablet running on Windows 8 with touchscreen functionality.
Apparently, Intel has been offering some design ideas to its partners for upcoming ultrabook models, with a swivel-screen being one of the ideas. A swivel-screen could enable the device to be used like a traditional notebook or a tablet, blurring the lines between bulky laptops and tablets even more.
