Amazon to Release Kindle Fire OS Update

It looks like the Kindle Fire will get an update soon to fix some issues that stirred complaints among customers, according to Amazon.

The online retailer promises an update to the OS that will give users controls over displaying recent browsing activity, as well as improve speed and touchscreen controls. With the addition of such controls, Kindle Fire owners will seemingly be able to keep their Internet activity private from other users, according to Amazon.

"In less than two weeks, we're rolling out an over-the-air update to Kindle Fire that will improve performance, touch navigation, and give customers the option to choose what items display on the carousel,” said Amazon spokeswoman, Kinley Pearsall, via email.

The Fire launched Nov. 15, and while Amazon has yet to release comprehensive sales figures for device, the company has reported that it’s the top-selling product in its Kindle lineup. Previous reports claim that the online retailer has sold millions of units and is making more to meet demand.

While we found the Kindle Fire to operate like a cross-breed of an eReader and a tablet, resulting in slightly limited function, the device was great for content consumption.
