Amazon sold millions of Kindle Fire tablets and eReaders in December, according to the online retailer, with customers purchasing more than 1 million Kindle devices per week.
The current crop of Kindles include the Kindle Fire tablet, and the Kindle Touch and new Kindle eReaders, which were numbers one, two and three on the Amazon best seller list for the holidays, respectively. In addition, the Kindle Fire was the most gifted and wished item on Amazon since its launch 13 weeks ago and the best-selling product on the Amazon mobile site and apps.
Amazon still has not released specific sales numbers, and never has for its Kindle devices, though analysts suggest Amazon may sell upwards of 5 million Kindle Fire tablets in 2011.
