Could Apple be working on a smaller iPad?
According to the folks at the hardly-reliable DigiTimes, iPad part makers have delivered samples of 7.85-inch iPads to Apple for verification. The report also claimed that full production would likely begin in the third quarter of 2012, at the earliest.
The alleged 7.85-inch iPad will likely be Apple’s response to the success of the cheaper and smaller Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble NOOK tablet.

The price of the smaller iPad is rumored to be set between $249 and $299, since Apple is also expected to release an 8GB iPad 2 for between $349 and $399.
