More rumors regarding the release of the 7.85-inch iPad have popped up from various sources, just less than a week after the reveal of the new iPad.
First, an unnamed Samsung official spoke with the Korea Times and claimed that Apple will release a 7.85-inch iPad at the end of 2012. Despite their legal battles, Samsung provides display panels for Apple, so this rumor has a bit of weight. That said, Apple may have simply produced a batch of test devices and has no intention of releasing a smaller iPad.
A report from DigiTimes also claims that the price of the smaller iPad will range from $249 - $299 in order to target the sub-$300 market and to compete directly with the Kindle Fire and NOOK Tablet. The report also states that the iPad Mini may not adopt Retina Display and instead use the IPS/FFS panels from LG display and AU Optronics.
