Google Introduces New Cloud Service: Google Drive

Today, Google introduced Drive, a cloud service that enables users to create, share, collaborate, and store files such as documents, videos, and PDFs.

With Google Drive, users can upload and access all of their files using a computer (PC or Mac), smartphone, or Android tablet (iOS version coming soon). Those using the service will be able to create and collaborate easily. Google Docs, which was essentially a forbearer to the Drive service, has been integrated with Drive allowing users to work with others on spreadsheets, word documents, and presentations and make edits in real time. 

Users will be given 5GB of storage space for free. You can access it anywhere and everywhere. If you have a plethora of files, Google Drive allows users to search files easily by incorporating Google search. You’ll be able to search by keyword or filter by file type. Drive even has the ability to recognize text in scanned documents using Optical Character Technology, as well as search images by keyword.

If you’d like to ramp up the amount of space you have, you can upgrade to 25GB for $2.49/month, 100GB for $4.99/month, or 1TB for $49.99/month. When you upgrade your paid account, your Gmail account storage will also expand to 25GB.
