Long-Expected BlackBerry PlayBook with 4G LTE Could Debut Next Week

A version of RIM's tablet with 4G LTE is reportedly going to launch in just a few days. The price for this version of the BlackBerry PlayBook might be higher than many would like, however.

This device has been talked about since 2011, and RIM's new CEO confirmed its existence at his company's developer meeting this spring.

According to information that has leaked out, the PlayBook with 4G LTE is finally going to launch on July 31. It will supposedly sell for $550.

Hardware Details

Based on unofficial images, this new version is expected to greatly resemble the current WiFi-only ones. It will reportedly have a 7-inch, 1024 x 600 touchscreen, and run BlackBerry OS 2.0 on a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. The only version is going to have 32GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM.

In addition to 4G LTE, it will also supposedly include 4G HSPA+. NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also considered likely. Additional features are going to include a 5MP rear-facing camera with support for 1080p HD videos, a 3MP front-facing camera, and a 4800 mAh battery.
