Sprint To Finally Offer Apple Tablets: iPad mini and iPad 4th-Gen

Two Apple's latest products are headed for Sprint. The new iPad mini and the fourth-generation full-size iPad will be the first Apple tablets to be offered by this carrier.

This telecom has offered Android-based tablets for some time, but has never before included an iPad in its product lineup. That is about to change.

Apple iPad mini The iPad mini will be Apple's first 7.9-inch model, while the iPad 4th-Gen is going to be a speed-bumped version of its predecessor, and will have a 9.7-inch screen. Pre-orders for both start tomorrow, and they will launch Friday, Nov. 2.

These will be the first Apple tablets that can connect to Sprint's 4G LTE network. This only debuted a few months ago, and is still available in a few areas. Sprint is working to change that, however.

There will also be versions of the iPad mini and iPad 4th-Gen that support AT&T's and Verizon's 4G LTE networks.

New Data Plans

Although Sprint is famous for offering unlimited data plans for smartphones like the iPhone, these won't extend to Apple's tablets. This is almost certainly because tablets users generally use far more data than phone users do.

Instead, iPad users will have a choice of 300MB of data transfers in a month for $14.99, 3GB for $34.99, 6B for $49.99, or 12GB of data for $79.99.

These plans will not require commitments. Users can get them for a month or agree to have them renewed whenever they expire. The other side of the coin is that they do not include the subsidies that smartphone users have come to expect when they have a two-year contract.

Sprint's new data plans for tablets will become available on Sunday, Nov. 11.
