With the tablet space heating up just in time for the holiday season, Barnes & Noble is working to secure a spot on everyone's wish list by cutting the price of last year's Nook Tablet and Nook Color by $20 and $10, respectively.
Usually sold for $200, the 16GB Nook Tablet is currently priced at $180, while its 8GB brethren also saw a price drop, selling for $160 currently. Taking a little less off the entry-level Nook Color, Barnes & Noble is now offering the device for $140, compared to its previous $150 price tag.
This isn't the first time either tablet has seen a price cut, as the book seller dropped the price of both devices back in August. The 16GB Nook Tablet originally retailed for $250 when it first hit the market last year, only to be met with competition from the lower-priced Kindle Fire, which Barnes & Noble fired back with its own smaller offering, the 8GB Nook Tablet.
While it's unclear how long these older models will be on the market for, it looks like Barnes & Noble intends to sell them through the holiday shopping season. With its latest and greatest shipping out to pre-order customers last week, the company will have an array of products available for purchase soon, with the 7-inch Nook HD and 9-inch HD set to hit shelves on Nov. 8.
With all of the tablet heavyweights, such as Apple with its new iPad Mini, Amazon with its selection of Kindle devices and now Barnes & Noble with its Nook lineup, offering a plethora of options, consumers will certainly have their fair share of slates to choose from for their wish lists!
