Although AT&T stopped offering customers subsidies on tablets earlier this year, a special promotion has brought these back, in a limited way.
Those who sign up for a two-year Mobile Share plan and add a tablet to it qualify for $100 off the cost of this device. This does not interfere with the subsidy off the price of a smartphone the customer would also get for signing the contract.
Mobile Share plans give users an allotment of data that several devices can pull from. The options are: $15 for 250MB, $30 for 3GB, and $50 for 5GB. Subscribers need to pay an additional amount for each device they make part of the plan -- adding a tablet is $10 a month.
This is a limited-time promotion. AT&T has not said how long it will be available, but describes it as being available for the Holidays, which likely means it will last through December.
AT&T offers a range of tablets, including Apple's iPad, Android-based models, and ones running Microsoft Windows.
