Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Introduced by Verizon

Verizon customers who want the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 can now pick up a version that can connect to their carrier's 4G network.

A version that depends on Wi-Fi for Internet acces has been available for months, but the one that has debuted from Verizon also includes built-in support for this telecom's 4G LTE network.

The telecom is asking $500 for the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. Unlike smartphones, there is no subsidy available for signing a multi-year contract.

As its name spells out, the device has a 10.1-inch touchscreen. This has a relatively-low 1280 x 800 resolution (149 ppi).

The Tab 2 10.1 runs the somewhat aging Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), but Samsung is working on a 4.1 upgrade for this tablet. There is 8GB of on-board storage and a microSD memory card slot.

Other features include a 3.2MP rear-facing camera, a VGA front facing camera, Bluetooth, DLNA, and a 7000 mAh battery.
