Those who are wondering when Apple's fifth-generation tablet will be released could have an answer: sooner than many might expect.
Apple surprised a lot of people by releasing the iPad 4 this fall, only about half a year after the iPad 3 came out. This has left many wondering if this company is going to make a habit of re-freshing its tablet offerings more than once a year.
There's evidence to support this theory. DigiTimes is reporting that component makers in Asia are expecting to begin supplying parts to Apple for a new tablet in March or April. This device will supposedly be introduced in mid-2013.
At this point, no other details on this model have leaked out, so there's no way to tell how it will be different from the current one.
Previously, Apple introduced new iPads just once a year, in springtime. With the iPad 4 coming out in the fall, and the next model supposedly slated for next summer, that schedule may be a thing of the past.
The next-generation iPhone is also reportedly going to be released next summer.
