Best Buy is really getting into the giving spirit this year, adding the second-generation Amazon Kindle Fire to its list of discounted electronics. The retailer is taking $20 off the 8GB tablet, selling the slate for $140 plus tax.
Unfortunately, Best Buy isn't offering to ship the device as part of the deal. However, customers can go online and reserve a unit for pick up at their local brick and mortar store, saving them from having to rush out now to secure their purchase. Those interested can also visit Best Buy's website to check out which stores in their area have the Amazon tablet in stock.
More ABout the Secong-Generation Kindle Fire
Currently selling for $160 from Amazon, the Kindle Fire offers a faster performance and better interface than its predecessor. While the slate still lacks HD video support, a HDMI port and the ability to add more space via a microSD slot, it is still one of the best sub-$200 tablets on the market.
For users looking for a simple device to enter the tabletsphere with, this is it. The Kindle Fire provides all the basic features necessary in a tablet, letting users play games, surf the Web, check e-mail and consume content. Though the device certainly doesn't compete with the Kindle Fire HD brethren, even the savviest shoppers will struggle to find a tablet better than the Fire for less than $140.
The promotion will only be available while supplies last, so last minute shoppers looking for a good deal better act fast.
