Dell Latitude 10 Tablet Release Pushed Back a Month

At one point, Dell hoped to have its Latitude 10 out before Christmas. Now it looks like this Windows 8 tablet won't be available until closer to Groundhog Day.

Dell Latitude 10 TabletThe company's website says that this product will be released on January 23, 2013. Those who had already ordered this device over the last few weeks have been notified that they won't receive it until next month.

Lenovo is in the same boat. It hoped to have the ThinkPad 2 out soon after the release of Windows 8, but the launch is now scheduled for January 8.

HP is also having problems with one of its Windows 8 tablets. It is now more than a month after the originally scheduled release the Envy x2, and HP now says it won't be available until Jan. 8.

Problems with Connected Standby?

Neither company has given a reason for these delays, but some are pointing to problems with Intel Atom "Clover Trail" processors and a new aspect of Windows 8 called Connected Standby. This handy feature allows computers to do tasks even when they are on standby, like check email.

Problem is, it's so new companies are having difficulties getting it working right. All the bugs have reportedly not been ironed out with tablets running Clover Trail processors.
