Don't Use iOS "Do Not Disturb" Feature This Week -- It's Broken

Those who use the "Do Not Disturb" feature on their iPhone and iPad has a nasty surprise this week: a bug causes it to never turn off. And Apple has no solution for the issue.

Apple has acknowledged this problem -- a note on its support website says:

Do Not Disturb scheduling feature will resume normal functionality after January 7, 2013. Before this date, you should manually turn the Do Not Disturb feature on or off.

To turn off the scheduling feature, tap Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb and switch Scheduled to Off.

For those who are unfamiliar with it, this feature was created for those who like to keep their phone or tablet near their bed. It keeps the device from making audible or visible alerts as long as the device's screen is off and the Do Not Disturb is on.

Almost every January, it seems a bug in iOS crops in the first week of the year. The 2013 problem has received less attention than some of its predecessors, possibly because Do Not Disturb isn't as widely used as some of the other features that have failed in previous years, like all alarms.
