Amazon is feeling generous this February and wants to share its cheer with customers via a price cut for both models of the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablets. Both the Wi-Fi and LTE models will be available at a 10% discount to all customers who enter "FREELOVE" during checkout on Amazon.com.
The two devices share the same the specs, with the exception of the LTE model offering 4G cellular connectivity, which Amazon currently charges $50 a year for 250MB of data a month.
Other than that, both offer an 8.9-inch LCD display with a full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. The tablets also house a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, with 1GB of RAM, PowerVR SGX544 graphics, and 32GB of storage with no microSD slot available. Both also offer a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and run a highly-modified version of the Android operating system.
With the special "FREELOVE" promotion, the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 Wi-Fi model is available for $270 (originally priced at $300), while the 4G LTE model is priced at $450 (originally priced at $500). The promotion lasts until February 8.
