The wait is over for the Wikipad 7, an Android tablet with a set of physical game controls. It can be ordered now for just $250.
It is capable of doing everything other 7-inch Android tablets can, but what sets the device apart from the pack is a set of removable controls designed to work with games in the Google Play market. These include dual joysticks, a D-pad, bumpers, and other buttons.
The Wikipad 7 is available now from Walmart. Other stores that are scheduled to offer it soon include Best Buy and TigerDirect.
More About the Wikipad 7
"Wikipad's tablet combines the latest range of features found in a premium Android tablet together with the unrivaled console video game experience only available with a gamepad," promised Matthew Joynes, Chairman of Wikipad Inc.
Because the game controls are removable, this device is useable for other tasks, from watching movies to accessing the Web to word processing.
The tablet portion has a 7-inch IPS touchscreen with 1280 x 800 resolution and there is a 2 megapixel front-facing camera.
The Wikipad 7 runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) on an Nvida Tegra 3 quad-core processor, with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a microSD memory card slot. There is Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0.
