An upcoming version of Microsoft's Windows Phone is going to allow this operating system to run on tablets, according to an unconfirmed report.
Windows Phone 8.1 (code-named "Blue") is expected to be out next year, and will supposedly support 7-inch to 10-inch screens.
Windows Phone > Windows Tablet?
Windows RT is an operating system created by Microsoft to run on tablets with ARM processors. Windows Phone also runs on ARM-based devices, but Microsoft's plan for how these two will co-exist is not yet clear.
That's especially true when one considers that Microsoft is modifying Windows Phone so that it can run third-party software written for Windows RT.
So far, Windows RT has not found a large market, and it's possible Microsoft's plan is to replace it with Windows Phone. Or both could continue to exist, giving tablet makers more options.
