Gigabyte has many unique looking tablets on display at their Computex booth and we got the chance to have a little hands-on with them, thanks to our very own Kevin O’Brien who has been all over the show floor in Taipei.

The Gigabyte M912 tablet has the same look and feel as the Eee PC, with the addition of a swivel point and touchscreen. The design seems to be solid and you get the advantage of a ultraportable with a touchscreen. They also have a nice imprint finish (similiar to HPs), which gives the tablet a sleek appearance.

Gigabyte M912x Specs:

  • Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor
  • Windows XP or Linux OS
  • Intel 945GSE chipset
  • DDR2-667, SO-DIMM x 1, Max 1GB
  • 8.9" WXGA 1280×768 LED backlight touchscreen display

The Gigabyte M912 has a starting price of $700 and a July release date in Taiwan and possibly an August release date in the US. It’s hard to tell how well they will sell here in the US because of the subnotebook competition.

We will update this page with additional information as soon as we get it, so keep checking back for more information and other new releases!
