Asus Transformer Book Windows 8 Tablet Finally Coming to the U.S.

After a long wait, the Asus Transformer Book dockable Windows 8 tablet is about to be released in the U.S. This will come in a variety of sizes and processor speeds.

[click to view image]This model was first announced nearly a year ago, at Computex 2012. Still, Asus made it clear that it was making a pre-announcment, as Windows 8 was still months away from its debut at that time.

It has since launched in other parts of the world, and today Asus North America announced on Facebook that the U.S. debut is going to be on May 21.

More About the Asus Transformer Book

Tis tablet will have a 13-inch (1920 x 1080) Full HD display. Buyers will have a choice of an Intel Core i7 or i5 processors, but both will have 4GB of RAM.

The Transformer Book is referred to as a dockable tablet because it is sold only with a keyboard dock -- unlike most other tablets this is not an optional accessory. The tablet has a 128GB SSD and a 38Whr battery, while the dock holds a 500GB hard drive and a 23WHr battery.

In today's announcement, Asus did not say anything about pricing.
