Microsoft Will Pay Retailers up to $10 for Selling Certain Windows 8 Tablets and Notebooks

In an attempt to increase sales of devices running Windows 8 and Windows 8 RT, Microsoft has announced a plan to pay resellers $5 or $10 for selling certain devices running these operating systems.

[click to view image]Speaking at Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC), Tami Reller, the CFO of the Windows division, said, "The whole idea is to provide incentives for the commercial channel for featured devices and tablets -- PCs and tablets -- and through this program we will provide incentives directly to authorized distributors, as well as reseller partners."

There are 21 models on the list of tablets and other PCs that are included in the "TouchWins" promotion, from hardware makers HP, Lenovo, Dell, Acer, Asus, Samsung, and others. The complete list is available on Microsoft's Parter Network website

There is a mix of Windows 8 and Windows 8 RT devices which, in Microsoft's view, do the best job of showcasing the capabilities of these operating systems.
