Earlier this year, Microsoft broadly hinted that it is developing more accessories for its flagship Surface Pro tablet. Some of the details on one of these have leaked out.
Battery life isn't one of the Surface Pro's strong points, but unnamed sources have informed Neowin a Power Cover will be the next accessory for this model. This will function as an external battery to allow this tablet to last more than 4 hours on a single charge.
And users apparently won't have to sacrifice too much to get it -- like the current Type Cover, it will supposedly include a built-in keyboard that will offer physical keys. Still, it will weigh in at 1.1 pounds.
If real, this will connect to the computer with magnets along its "Accessory Spine", the same way the covers of Microsoft's already do. This means it will be compatible with the Surface Pro and the rumored Surface Pro 2, but not the Surface RT.
This accessory will allegedly be released after the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 hits store shelves, but it is not yet known when that will happen other than possibly later this year. Also unknown is what the Power Cover will sell for.
