Running out of storage room on your tablet? SanDisk has good news for you: the world’s highest-capacity microSD card. This can be easily slid into a compatible tablet to bring 128GB of capacity, double what was previously available.

SanDisk Ultra 128GB microSD CardTo achieve this, SanDisk developed a proprietary technique that allows for 16 memory die to be vertically stacked, each shaved to be thinner than a strand of hair.

Bring Your Big Wallet

Anyone who plans to get one of these better be prepared for some sticker shock, as SanDisk is going to ask a whopping $200. That said, the prices for memory tend to drop fairly quickly over time.

Another thing to be aware of is that this card will require tablets that support microSDXC. Any tablet that can use 64GB cards can use it, but not ones that top out at 32GB.

It’s not yet clear exactly when the SanDisk Ultra 128GB microSD Card will be released, but when it hits the market it will be available exclusively at BestBuy.com and Amazon.com.
