Both Acer and ASUS announced that two of their Honeycomb tablets will receive the Andriod Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 update soon.
The team for Acer ANZ officially announced that customers in Australia and New Zealand with the Iconia A500 tablet will receive the ICS upgrade in April. There are no exact dates for the release, and there is no word about this update being shipped to other countries.
Reports stated that the ASUS Transformer tablet will receive the Android ICS update by mid-February. However, ASUS Singapore is announcing that the update will come to the device in February/March via an over-the-air update.
Acer Iconia A500 and ASUS Transformer Overview
The Acer Iconia Tab A500 ships with a 1GHz dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, GeForce GPU, 1GB of RAM and up to 32GB of internal storage. It also has GPS, a 5-megapixel back-facing camera with an LED flash, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, microSD card slot to expand the memory capacity, as well as micro-HDMI, USB and micro-USB ports.
The ASUS Transformer is unique as it has two parts: a tablet and a keyboard (sold separately). The tablet portion features a 10.1-inch capacitive multi-touch IPS display (1280 x 800) and a NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. It has 1GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, a 5MP rear-facing camera, a 1.2MP front-facing camera, and a mini-HDMI hub. The keyboard adds an extended battery life, two full-sized USB ports, and a microSD card slot.
