Throughout the first half of this year, we should see two or three tablet releases from Acer, as the company continues to work its way from the netbooks that had once been its bread and butter. Sales manager Lu Bing-hsian summed it up when describing the vaguely outlined upcoming tablets: “They are aimed at phasing out netbooks. That’s the direction of the market.”
A lot of details are not yet available, but there are some key elements we can expect. Firstly, the new releases will feature a 7-inch and 10-inch model. They will run an Android OS, and use Intel’s Sandy Bridge processor.
Other than these highlights, sources have not released any other important details, including price, availability, or hardware specs. It is possible that these tablets could be related to some mentioned at Acer’s global launch in November, although it is not guaranteed that they are. Expect more information as we approach Q2.
