Yes, that means all models, which includes not only the 16 GB model, but the 32 and 64 GB models as well, all going for $299. With that kind of pricing, I’m not sure why anyone would buy any other model besides the 64 GB PlayBook — so as to get the most bang for their buck — so odds seem good that the 64 GB model will be gone soon enough.
As mentioned, this isn’t the first time the PlayBook has been severely discounted, as RIM recently marked the 16 GB model down to $199. For those that missed out on that deal, this new price cut is a good opportunity if you’re still interested. After all, getting four times the storage for another hundred bucks isn’t too bad of a deal.
And unlike Black Friday, you’ll have more than one day to make up your mind about your purchase; this price cut is scheduled to run through the beginning of February. That sort of timing doesn’t seem too mysterious given the fact that the PlayBook OS 2.0 is scheduled to be released next month, so this could be a last-ditch attempt on RIM’s part to expand its user base.
