Alleged iPad 3 Case Photo Suggests Retina Display and More

What’s a day without iPad 3 rumors? A photo of an alleged iPad 3 case shows multiple but minor changes from its predecessor.

The folks at Repair Labs snapped the photos that show numerous enhancements for the iPad 3. The photos reveal that the mounts for the logic board will be different in the iPad 3, which will allow for a larger battery. Rumors have been swirling around about a larger battery for the iPad 3, necessary to power a high resolution display, and this photo seems to further validate those reports.

Other things to note from the photo are the camera type and the LCD screen. The inside of the camera slot for the iPad 2 was circular, while the alleged camera slot for the next generation of iPads will be rectangular. And second, the LCD screen will be changed. It’s hard to tell what exactly the change will be, but the mounting of the screen suggests that it will be something that users haven’t dealt with before. There has been some talk about the iPad 3 receiving a Retina Display, much like the iPhone 4 and 4S, which may account for the alterations.

While it’s hard to say that these reports are true, it’s hard to knock them down when they’re seemingly parallel to the rumors that have been talked about so far. TabletPCReview will continue to cover the news before the iPad 3’s release rumored for next month. Check out the leaked debug photos and rumored release date, as well as what we know so far about the tablet.
