After the spectacular success of the Wi-Fi Kindle with Special Offers, Amazon has decided to keep the unique sales strategy rolling, introducing a 3G version of the promotional Kindle.
The Kindle is the most popular eReader on the market today. Capitalizing on its success, Amazon debuted “Special Offers” versions of the devices that include ads on the homepage and screensavers (but not inside of the actual eBooks). In exchange for tolerating the ads and special promotional offers, those who buy a Kindle with Special Offers receive a discount off of the normal Kindle price.
A Wi-Fi Kindle with Special Offers was the first attempt at this sales scheme, and in five weeks it shot up Amazon’s sales charts and as of May 25 it holds the top spot in electronics. Amazon has now announced that it is also selling a 3G Kindle with Special Offers.
The 3G Kindle with Special Offers is available now from Amazon, and it features the same $25 discount as the Wi-Fi Kindle with Special Offers. With a normal 3G Kindle costing $189, its final price comes to $164.
