The official debut of the second-generation Kindle Fire is probably coming in less than a week, but those who want an early look at this device don’t have to wait any longer.
Several images of this upcoming Android tablet have been leaked to The Verge, giving the world its first real glimpse of it. These help confirm some of the earlier rumors, such as the one saying it will have a front-facing camera for video conferencing.
Unfortunately for those really interested in the Fire 2, the source of the images didn’t also reveal any of the specs for this model. About the best that can be said is that the images don’t seem to contradict any of the previous unconfirmed reports on the tablet.
What The Rumors Say
While Amazon itself has kept this product under wraps, a number of leaks have revealed some of the details. Assuming these are accurate, the Kindle Fire 2 is going to sport a 1280 x 800 touchscreen, up from the 1024 x 600 on that’s in the original version. A front-facing camera seems like a given at this point, but a rear-facing one is still a question. So is a possible video-out port.
In addition, Amazon is supposedly also prepping a 10-inch version of the Fire. The details on it remain few and far between, however. The official presentation of the next-generation of this product line is expected to be next Thursday, when Amazon has scheduled a press conference.
