KindleAmazon had finally released Kindle firmware update 2.5 to all Kindle eBook reader owners, having previously made it available for download to international users. The added features include Twitter and Facebook functionality, which allows users to share notes and highlight passages on Twitter and Facebook directly from the Amazon Kindle.

Other features include:

  • Collections, which allows users to organize books and documents into folders
  • Popular Highlights, which displays the most interesting book passages as chosen by the Kindle community
  • PDF pan and zoom for easier and more effective PDF viewing
  • Password protection
  • Sharper fonts in two larger sizes

Amazon will push out the update wirelessly over the coming weeks, but those who don’t want to wait can download it from Amazon directly.
