The source told the Boy Genius Report that the first is a redesign of the existing 7-inch model, bringing improvements to its build quality. Instead of the black, semi-rubberized finish that currently adorns the back of the Kindle Fire, the new model will feature a metal casing with a chrome-look “rib.” The tablet’s speakers will also be located on the back of the new model.
The other tablet that Amazon has in the works is an all-new, 10-inch model that will supposedly be powered by a quad-core processor. Not much else was revealed about the 10-inch tablet, dubbed “Hollywood” last year when rumblings about it first began to surface, other than the fact tha tit would feature a front-facing camera.
The source claims that the shape of the tablets is like a thinner version of the first-generation iPad, though neither of the new tablets have buttons on their fronts. Both tablets will, however, include micro USB ports and another port that the source speculated, but could not confirm, is an HDMI-out port.
