While Amazon still hasn’t released any comprehensive numbers in regards to its Kindle sales, the company has claimed that the eReader and tablet devices have been selling like hotcakes this holiday season, with the Kindle Fire remaining the top seller for the company.
“Kindle Fire is the most successful product we’ve ever launched – it’s the bestselling product across all of Amazon for 11 straight weeks, we’ve already sold millions of units, and we’re building millions more to meet the high demand. In fact, demand is accelerating – Kindle Fire sales increased week over week for each of the past three weeks,” said Dave Limp, vice president of Amazon Kindle, in a statement.
Amazon touted wildly successful Black Friday sales of its Kindle devices last month, though once again the online retailer avoided numerical details. Limp declared the super savings day as the best Black Friday Amazon has ever experienced with its Kindle lineup, with the customers purchasing four times as many devices as they did last year.
With the $199 Kindle Fire shipping in the beginning of November, Amazon also launched the $99 Kindle Touch and its $149 3G variant a day later. The online retailer also introduced a $79 Kindle back in September when it first announced the Fire.
