Apple has released a beta of iOS 4.3, the next version of its operating system for the iPad and this company’s other products. This confirms that the upcoming iPad 2 will have both front- and rear-facing cameras.
Developers looking at the tablet version of this beta have found icons for FaceTime, Camera, and PhotoBooth apps.
However, details on these apps are unavailable, as they are not actually installed in the developer build of the beta. Rather, the wallpaper preview image included in the beta, which has been updated since the last version, has been changed and includes icons for the new apps.
New Gestures, Too
Also included in the new iOS 4.3 beta are four- and five-finger iPad gestures, but Apple has since clarified that these features will not be made available to the public upon the release of the update; they are only in the build to garner input from developers on their functionality.
Apple has yet to disclose a release date for iOS 4.3, but it might not be available until the launch of the iPad 2, which is expected in April.
