More information continues to come out regarding Apple’s next generation iPad, including details about size and shape, but an inside source claims that not all speculation about the iPad 2 thus far is entirely reliable.
While the first iPad was criticized for having a curved back—which was not only labeled as impractical, but also prevented it from being able to pack up easily alongside certain peripherals like wireless keyboards—this new iPad will allegedly sport a flat back according to MacOtakara, a Japanese Mac blog.
In another move to rectify previous criticisms, the bezel of the iPad 2 will be slightly smaller, though the LCD screen size will remain the same. The new iPad will measure 239 mm by 186 mm, whereas the current iPad measures 242.8 mm by 189.7 mm.
As for the slot on the bottom of the new device, which can be seen in early case designs, the source said that it is a “large, wide-ranged speaker unit covered with metal mesh.”
Not everything we have heard so far about the iPad 2 may be true, however, as the source referred to claims about the upcoming device sporting dual cameras (one front-facing and the other rear-facing), as “unreliable information.”
