Rumors have been circulating for months that Apple is going to reduce the size of the next iPad. The latest supposed leak uses some schematics to show the changes.
The iPad 5 will allegedly be 0.31 inches thick (7.9 mm), down from 0.37 (9.4 mm), according to nowhereelse.fr. This tablet will be 9.1 inches (232 mm) tall and 7.0 inches (178.5 mm) wide. The current model is 9.5 inches (241 mm) tall and 7.3 inches (186 mm) wide.
Other changes in this unconfirmed report are a change in the shape of the bezel, as well as moving the speaker from the back to the bottom. Both of these would make the full-size iPad look a bit more like the iPad mini.
The upcoming device is also expected to weigh less than the 1.44 lbs. (652 g) of the iPad 4 — earlier rumors have indicated it might be as much as 33% lighter.
Some of these earlier reports had also said that Apple was planning a more dramatic reduction in size, with the bezels to the left and right of the screen being virtually eliminated.
