A new edition of Apple’s full-size tablet is widely expected to be coming soon, but exactly when is an open question. The news service Bloomberg thinks it has the answer: September 10.
An article on Apple published today includes:
Apple, based in Cupertino, California, plans to introduce new versions of its phone and tablet at a Sept. 10 event, a person familiar with the matter has said.
Although Apple itself has not said anything about it, there have been persistent rumors that this company is going to hold a press event on September 10 during which the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are going to be unveiled.
However, it has generally been thought that the wraps would come off the fifth-generation iPad at a separate event held on a later date. Apple has never before announced new versions of the iPhone and iPad at the same time.
This report was contradicted by a response from another typically reliable source. More details are in this article:
More About the iPad 5
It is expected to have the same 9.7-inch Retina touchscreen as its predecessor, but the bezels on either side are going to shrink so the overall footprint of the device will be smaller. This is backed up by an image of the display that has leaked out (shown at right).
It will certaiinly launch running iOS 7, a redesigned version of Apple’s operating system. A faster processor has also been rumored.
