Apple iPad mini 2 with Retina Display Reportedly Set for Mid-Fall Release

Last week, an unconfirmed report indicated that Apple was still in the process of deciding whether to release a version of the iPad mini with a Retina display this fall, or to hold it off until next year. This decision may have been made.

Apple iPad mini A new report coming out of Asia indicates that LG will soon be making 2 – 3 million panels a months for the iPad mini 2, which the report says is set for release in October.

The current version of Apple’s 7.9-inch tablet has a 1024 x 768 resolution, giving it a much lower pixel density than Apple’s full-size iPad. However, the second-generation model is rumored to have a screen with a 2048 x 1536 (QXGA) resolution, qualifying it as a “Retina” display.

Bigger Brother

The larger version is allegedly going to be out in September, possibly to keep its launch from being overshadowed.
