While Apple remains mum on the existence of an iPad Mini, the rumor mill has been turning regarding this smaller slate, with the latest news claiming we could see this tablet as early as September.
According to a research note written by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is planning to release the next iPhone in early September, followed by the new iPad Mini later that same month, as originally reported by Business Insider. Seeing as most rumors regarding the next-generation iPhone point to an October debut, the September release date for the iPad Mini seems a bit questionable.
Yet, Kuo has been right in the past when forecasting Apple’s product schedule, as he correctly predicted that the company would nix the 17-inch MacBook Pro. According to Kuo, Apple will introduce the iPad Mini in late September, in addition to a modified version of the third-generation iPad which is aimed to address heating issues.
More about the iPad Mini
Whispers of a smaller tablet offering from Apple began months ago, with evidence mounting after a case manufacturer leaked some details of the device. According to reports, the iPad Mini will measure in at 7.9 x 5.3-inches wide, which would be a bit smaller than the current 9.5 x 7.3-inch model. Additionally, the tablet will reportedly be 7.4mm thick, which is about the thickness of an iPod touch, and will supposedly cost $250 when released.
