A new survey has found that IT managers will spend more money to deploy tablets in their businesses this year than in 2012, noting that Apple will benefit the most as more enterprise users turn to iPads over other mobile slates for their work needs.
In the report, analyst Gene Munster points out that among the 59 CIOs polled, 58% anticipate spending more money overall on tablets this year, compared to the 5% who expect to spend less. Furthermore, the percentage of those surveyed who promised to initiate “broad” tablet rollouts in their companies more than tripled from 4% in 2012 to 15% this year.
“We view the greater deployment of tablets as a positive for Apple given that we believe the iPad has over 60% global tablet share and likely a higher share among enterprises.” Munster said. “We believe continued growth in enterprise tablet deployment will help drive continued growth in the full-sized iPad segment given the larger iPads are better for content creation.”
Munster also noted that businesses are likely to increase their tablet deployments rapidly over the next three to five years, as PC buying flattens among enterprise users. Combined with more companies hopping on the BYOD (bring-your-own-device) bandwagon, the corporate world has seen an influx of personal tablets, especially iPads, in the workforce recently.
