iPad users are on the Web a lot when they are at home. This tablet generates more traffic than any other computer, according to a study of in-home broadband data use by Sandvine.
The study indicated that over 10% of all Internet traffic is generated by Apple’s tablet. Add in the iPhone and iPod touch and it is 23% of all in-home traffic. That’s nearly twice as much as what comes from OS X-based computers.
Android-based tablets and smartphones account for 7% of home traffic.
While the lion’s share of at-home Internet traffic comes from Windows computers — 35% — adding the Windows and OS X traffic together doesn’t come up with 50% of the total. Clearly, tablet and smartphone users aren’t putting their mobile devices down when they get home and switching to a laptop or desktop.
