Apple will sell its popular iPad tablet at Verizon Wireless Stores beginning October 28th. However, those hoping for an iPad or iPhone on the Verizon network will be disappointed to learn that Verizon Wireless Stores will only be offering the Wi-Fi iPad.
The wily brains at Verizon are offering a workaround for the Verizon network, however. Bundled with the Wi-Fi iPad will be Verizon MiFi units, which are mobile Verizon hotspots that allow up to five devices Verizon network access via Wi-Fi.
The 16GB iPad and MiFi bundles will retail for $630, while the 32GB and 64GB iPad bundles will cost $730 and $830 respectively. The 16GB Wi-Fi iPad currently costs $500 at Apple stores and other retail outlets.
In addition, Verizon plans to offer a special month-to-month data plan for iPad customers that includes up to 1GB of data per month for $20 or 5GB for $60. The 3G iPad’s AT&T plan runs $25 for 2GB of data.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of increased speculation that the iPhone will be available on the Verizon network beginning early next year.
