Today, Apple has announced an impressive feat; the tech company has managed to sell three million iPad sales in just three days. The sales calculations included Wi-Fi only models of the iPad Mini and the fourth-generation iPad.
The new sales figures not only hit a new milestone for the Apple, but effectively doubled the old weekend milestone of 1.5 million Wi-Fi only models for the third-generation iPad set back in March.
The compact iPad mini offers a 7.9-inch display, with a 1024×768 resolution. The device is equipped with an Apple A5 processor, 5-megapixel rear facing camera and a1.2-megapixel front facing camera. The new tablet runs on iOS 6. Apple currently offers a Wi-Fi only model and wireless 4G LTE enabled version is expected to be released sometime later this month.
The iPad 4th-Gen has a 9.7-inch display with a 2048×1536 resolution. The device also runs on iOS 6 and comes equipped with a 1.4 GHz dual-core Apple A6 chip; which Apple claims has twice the performance of its predecessor. The next generation iPad also offers a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. Same as with the iPad mini, Apple is currently offering the Wi-Fi only model of the 4th-Gen iPad with wireless 4G LTE compatible models set to release later this month.
Pricing and Availability
Both the iPad min and fourth generation iPad are available in 34 countries including the US, Australia, Canada, Germany, China (Hong Kong), South Korea and the UK; with the devices set to release to many more countries later this year, including mainland China.
Additionally, both devices are currently only available in Wi-Fi only models with both wireless models set to release later this month. The Wi-Fi mini is currently available in the US for the MSRP of $330 for the 16GB model, $430 for the 32GB and $530 for the 64GB model. Later when the wireless models become available they will be offered for the at the suggested price of $460 for the 16GB, $560 for the 32GB and $660 for the 64GB model.
The fourth generation iPad Wi-Fi only devices are currently available in the U.S. for $500 for the 16GB model, $600 for the 32GB one, and $700 for the 64GB model. When the wireless models become available they are set to be offered at $630 for the 16GB model, $730 for the 32GB version, and $830 for the 64GB model.
