Apple Updates Podcasts App with New Playlist Features

Apple has released an update to its Podcasts app which brings much needed performance and user interface (UI) improvements along with several new playlist features.

One major change in version 1.2 is the addition of an entirely new feature that allows users to create custom playlists for any podcasts they choose. The playlist will automatically download new episodes for each podcast and store the content in iCloud, allowing the playlists to sync across multiple devices. Users can also organize the settings to play the most recent episode first, or start from the oldest unplayed episode.

The update also adds features that allow users to create playlists on the go, and that sync playlists back to iTunes.

The app also has a new, cleaner UI. It includes a bug fix to resolve an issue with playback that was causing signficant problems in the previous version of the app.

The new version of the app seems to be a huge step in the right direction for Apple, which faces competition from third-party podcast apps.
