The Asus FonePad only debuted recently and there’s already word that an improved version of this 7-inch tabletphone is coming soon.
The version that was unveiled at Mobile World Congress in February runs Android on a 1.2GHz Atom Z2420 processor, and has 16GB of internal storage. Asus has announced a version built around a 1.6GHz Z2460 processor with 32GB of storage.
This new version apparently won’t replace the earlier one, but will instead give buyers a second option.
Other Asus FonePad Details
This tablet includes a 7-inch 1280 x 800 touchscreen, and runs Android 4.1 with 1GB of RAM. It has a microSD memory card slot, a 3MP rear camera, and a 1.2MP front one.
Unlike most tablets, the FonePad sports GSM cellular-wireless connectivity, and 4G HSPA+ high-speed wireless data.
The original version has not been picked up be ay U.S. carrier, but it is available in this country from online stores like Expansys, where it costs $400 without a contract.
