With the ASUS Transformer Prime making its first unofficial appearance last week, more news has surfaced regarding this tablet and it seems the Prime will be getting a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich, eventually.
According to a recent report, ASUS Germany has confirmed that the Prime will launch with Honeycomb (3.x), but will be getting Google’s latest version of the Android OS. Though no official date for when the slate will receive the OS has been mentioned yet, the quad-cored Prime will not be the only ASUS device to feature Ice Cream Sandwich.
The report also confirmed that the Eee Pad Slider will also be getting Android 4.0. In addition, the original Transformer will be getting an upgrade to the new platform, as well as the company’s long awaited Padfone, which will ship in the first quarter of 2012 with Ice Cream Sandwich onboard.
The updated OS is set roll out “a couple of weeks” after the launch of the most recent offspring from Google and Samsung, the Galaxy Nexus smartphone, which is said to launch sometime in November.
