ASUS Transformer TF101 and Slider SL1 To Receive Android 4.1 Update

ASUS Transformer TF101The Google Nexus 7 may be the first device to run the new-fangled version of Android, version 4.1 (Jelly Bean), but it looks like older ASUS devices will be getting some love in the near future, too. Two ASUS tablets, the original Eee Pad Transformer TF101 and the Slider SL1 are both getting upgrades to the latest and greatest version of Android.

The Facebook page for ASUS Germany spilled the jelly beans with a post that confirmed that Android 4.1 would be coming to both of the older models, as well as all of the newer ASUS tablet models. There were no details, unfortunately, with regards to when the update will begin rolling out.

This isn’t the first time ASUS has been one of the first out of the gate with a new version of Android. The Transformer TF101 was also one of the first devices to receive an upgrade to version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) earlier this year. That being said, the device is getting fairly old at this point, having been released in April of 2011, so this may be the last major Android OS update the Transformer TF101 will see.
