Users of the popular Audible iPhone app will be happy to learn that Audible.com announced today that the app will now be supported by the iPad and the iPad Mini as well.
Audible.com is a subsidiary of Amazon that produces and sells spoken audio information and entertainment. Audible’s offerings include audio readings of books, magazines, newspapers and broadcast content. The company’s iPhone app has been established since 2010, but today’s release marks the first time the company has expanded its iOS offerings into the tablet realm.
The iPad app is optimized to be used on the device’s larger screen to provide an easier and more engaging browsing experience for users. The user interface pulls from the UI of the previous iPhone app while adding custom design maximized for the iPad.
The company has also released an update for the iPhone app that includes a simplified start-up, additional library filtering and the ability to download the first 50Mb of an audiobook over cellular networks.
Both the iPad and iPhone Audible apps are free to download, but users have to pay for the books in the app using an Amazon account.
