Axiotron and OWC Looking for Modbook Dealers
Axiotron and Other World Computing (OWC) are starting to recruit independent Macintosh dealers. It seems that they need help selling the ModBook Tablet Mac due to overwhelming consumer interest.
"We have had significant reseller interest," said OWC’s Lawrence R. O’Connor. We would prefer not to disclose the number of pre-orders, but to say the least, we are very pleased."
The company expects to ship the ModBook, which is a modified Apple MacBook with a Wacom digitizer, in early April. In addition, if Apple refreshes the MacBook line before April, any enhancements in the new model will make it into the ModBook. Now that is giving the consumer what they want.
Not just anyone can get their hands on the ModBook though. In Fact resellers who want to carry the ModBook will have to be certified by OWC. "We will require Apple Certified Service techs at the location and other criteria that will be disclosed when we roll out our reseller program," said O’Connor.
"Part of the authorization includes the ability of a reseller to support the warranty," O’Connor said. "The ModBook is an aftermarket enhancement to a standard Apple MacBook computer. The installation of this enhancement voids the Apple warranty. We will require that the reseller provide a warranty equivalent to that which Apple provides on the solution," he said.
Even with certain criterion’s set, many companies want to be resellers. They are excited to get their hands on one. I mean it is the first Mac Tablet solution and we all know that anything with the Apple logo sells.
