Did you miss out on the $99 TouchPad fire sale? Hoping HP will release another batch at a deeply discounted rate? Well, there is good news and bad news.
First the good news; Best Buy announced that beginning November 1, it will offer the webOS tablet for $150. The bad news; the deal is only available to those who purchase an HP laptop, desktop, or all-in-one.
HP also dashed any hopes of a $99 TouchPad return, claiming it was officially out of stock.
The HP TouchPad was deeply discounted to $99 for the 16GB model, marked down from the original price of $499, following news it had abandoned its webOS efforts. The sale was met with very high demand, eventually exhausting TouchPad stock. The sale came on the heel of news that HP was also considering spinning off and selling its Personal Systems Group, the division responsible for laptops, PCs, and tablets; a decision on the newly-crowned CEO Meg Whitman has since officially reversed.
There is no indication that HP plans to resurrect the TouchPad or webOS, but it has committed to Windows 8 tablets.
